![]() The absolute worst is how the game portrays Alyson's and Tyler's mother, Mary-Ann. Unfortunately, the pacing is way too fast for this game's own good, with a rushed romance subplot and characters forgiving major betrayals way too easily. It's a suspenseful mystery as these two try to remember and understand the truth about their mother that fateful night. ![]() For as great as Alyson's and Tyler's relationship is, however, I don't really like the overall story. Whether he's just playing around or being dead serious, I enjoyed every single scene with him, especially when he was with Alyson. Especially Tyler, the most precious bean I have ever seen in a video game. The writing and voice acting really compliment how special their relationship is. As characters, I genuinely believed they only wanted the best for each other, and they were the only ones that were there to support the other growing up. Alyson's and Tyler's chemistry and bond in this game is powerful and believable. They are ecstatic to be reunited, but their reunion ends on a sour note as their current priority is to sell their mother's house, which also means remembering her tragic death that got them separated all those years ago. Tell Me Why is about twins named Alyson and Tyler Ronan, who finally reunite after being separated for a decade. This is such a long and piercing progressive light in the video game industry, and while it ended up being a great game overall, there were still some shaky portrayals and problems with its story. ![]() Tyler Ronan is the first ever transgender protagonist in a AAA game, and this game also delves into new topics for Dontnod such as grief, panic attacks, and the importance of therapy. On the other hand, the subject in this game is completely new territory and it's a great beginning, though there's still much work needing to be done. The video game industry has made some progress in representation, largely because of this studio and the success of titles like Life Is Strange, which tackled subjects like mental healthcare and racism. Even when their representation isn't always the absolute best or the most sensible, they never give up or cave in to the pundits. Reviewed on: Xbox One, PC Dontnod Entertainment has my earnest respect for being one of the few game studios daring to explore taboo topics in video games. ![]()
